Punk. Post-Punk. New Wave. College Rock. 80s Alternative.
Afraid to Dance are a four-piece band celebrating the best of punk and new wave, from New York's CBGB heyday of Talking Heads, Blondie, and the Ramones, to the UK's the Clash, the Jam, and Elvis Costello, through the herky-jerky atmospheric 1980s of post-punk college radio staples R.E.M., the Cure, Joy Division and New Order, Echo & the Bunnymen, B-52's, and the Pixies, and with an occasional toe dipped in the shifting waters of the early 1990s.
Whatever you label it, we think the decade and a half that was 1976-1991 produced some of the best music ever. Maybe you do too.
